Empowering educators through Monash University’s first podcast, “Let’s Talk Teaching!”
The Backstory
Monash University’s Faculty of Education is dedicated to contributing to the public interest through high-quality teaching, research, and community service.
As part of their mission to support educators, Monash sought to establish a new platform that would offer practical strategies and insights directly from experts and alumni. To bring this vision to life, they created “Let’s Talk Teaching” - a podcast aimed at addressing the real-world challenges faced by teachers in Australian classrooms. Backstory Co was engaged by one of our trusted, long-term partners, VIDPOD to produce and script this dynamic new series, offering a fresh and accessible resource for educators.
What We Did
Backstory Co played an important role in the production of “Let’s Talk Teaching,” working closely with the MonashEducation team to ensure the new podcast would meet its goals and objectives, including:
Production Support: Backstory Co worked closely with VIDPOD and the MonashEducation team to ensure a smooth production process.
Guest Collaboration: Alongside the show’s host Associate Professor Rebecca Cooper, the show’s host, we ensured each guest’s expertise was captured in an engaging and insightful way.
Podcast Trailer Script: We crafted a dynamic and engaging script for the show’s trailer, designed to appeal to new teachers by highlighting relevant, relatable topics covered throughout the series.
Episode Intro and Outro Scripting and Show Notes: We wrote engaging intro and outro scripts for each episode, effectively summarising key topics. Additionally, we developed the show notes for each episode to provide listeners with the episode takeways.
Our Approach
Developing "Let’s Talk Teaching" was a collaborative effort between Backstory Co, VIDPOD, and, of course the MonashEducation team. Our focus was to create a podcast that upheld Monash's high educational standards while offering teachers practical, actionable advice. We crafted scripts that balanced educational insights with a conversational tone, making the episodes approachable for both new and experienced teachers.
The podcast served as an innovative new platform for Monash to connect with educators, offering them flexibility to engage at their own pace. As a digital, on-demand resource, the podcast allowed teachers to access professional development whenever and wherever it suited them. This format fostered a sense of community among listeners, extended Monash’s reach to a broader audience, and provided ongoing professional development opportunities through fresh, relevant content.
